Inconsequential

A 47 nation internet poll that only drew 26,000 responses is the subject of Doyle's latest rant for the Reuter's wire:

OSLO (Reuters) - Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, talk show host Oprah Winfrey and ex-U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan are best suited to champion work to fight climate change, a 47-nation opinion poll said on Monday.

Not completely worthless you say? How about if a third of poll participants said that no one was suited to lead an assault on climate change? A substantial portion of that third likely realize that "an assault on climate change" is an impossibility applied to the nonexistent.

This story also includes the increasingly nuanced phrase: "Scientists in a U.N. climate panel say that greenhouse gases, mainly from burning fossil fuels, will bring more droughts, floods and rising seas." I can step down the hall and get two scientists to say just about anything if I promise to take them to Dairy Queen and buy them a Blizzard, and I'm talking about real scientists, that work for a living, producing real products, not some retarded losers on a U.N. climate panel.

1 I was concerned today when my son told me, "That's what happens when there's global warming," regarding a long spring freeze that we'd had. After I stifled my giggles over his apparent suggestion that he knew from experience, I set the boy straight and explained the concept of "critical thinking." I think he may now be more qualified to sit on a U.N. panel than even Oprah.
