Today we have a nice anti-capitalist rant on Doyle's blog:

Prince Charles says his household emitted 3,425 tonnes of greenhouse gases last year. That must make him one of the biggest emitters in the world, even though he is cutting back with measures like running his Jaguar on fuel made from cooking oil.

Since my nice and reasonable comment on his blog was deleted I now reserve the right to delete one of Doyle's comments here. Also in the vein of fabricated environmental hype as an excuse to crush freedom he wrote this

OSLO -- An extra 0.5 percent should be levied on all tourism revenues and spent on protecting animals and plants from threats ranging from loss of habitats to climate change, an environmental expert said on Monday.

According to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity "the world is facing the worst wave of extinctions since the dinosaurs were wiped out 65 million years ago". Let us assume first that the U.N. had any credibility at all. Secondly suspension of disbelief is required and you need to stop laughing and get back up in your chair. The K/T extinction event is estimated to have wiped out 20% to 25% of late cretaceous species.  By the UN's own highly questionable numbers, mankind will have to continue exterminating three species per hour for the next 500 years or so to equal the magnitude of that event.
